Some history on "TAP PANTS"

Tap pants are a form of lingerie worn mostly by women. It is also known by the names of French knickers, side-cut shorts, and dance shorts. As the name implies, they are a type of shorts, in that they cover the pelvic area and the upper part of the upper legs.
Tap pants look much like track shorts, allow freedom of movement, and can be worn as an outer garment over other types of underwear (g-strings). However, most wearers may wear them as innerwear or leisurewear with nothing underneath. From a distance, one could mistakenly identify tap pants as a half slip.

The name "tap pants" originates from shorts worn by tap dancers while practicing their routines.

Tap pants are mostly manufactured using materials like lace, silk, satin and cotton voile. Some pairs may have ruffles.

This is an unusual, but classic vintage tap dancing graphic from the 1930s. This diagram was used to help explain a certain step they called Sevens! We say it's 9 half ladies having a great time. This design can be purchased as an ornament, magnet, or mini button pinback. I found this image on a fun websight called CAFE PRESS.

This a beautiful Vintage Spring sweater from the 50s. It is made of textured yarn ribbed Ban-lon, and it is a pretty ecru color. It has a nice collar with a V-neck and double buttons six in a row down the front.

Interesting take on the 70's with some snazzy tailoring and the best quality from Dean and Dan Caten so far. The over top twins were inspired by 'Charlie's Angels' and in particular Farah Fawcett. Oversized jewelled neck pieces, belts and harnesses on fluid jersey dresses through you back to the days of Halston and Studio 54. Sharp wide leg denim pants and fitted jackets teamed with American plaid shirts were strong looks.

All my favorite New York collections seamed to be influenced by "Charlie's Angels " era, the wild seventies.

Marc Jacobs did a good job with its second collection, marc by marc…Strong colors and cheerful geometric prints on shirtdresses, corduroy pantsuits, coats and jackets and the next must-haves: patent loafers and color-block lady bags and square clutches. This retro show brought together stewardesses uniform and seventies pop culture idols and there were plenty of wearable pieces. A trench with an extra front panel in a contrasting color or a jersey-knit dress with jacket.
